I’m now in my final semester of University and I’ll be graduating this July. It’s went so fast and it’s been the biggest whirlwind ever. It only feels like yesterday since I went to my first lecture and now I’m coming closer to my last! Since it goes so fast, I’ve listed some ways that you can make the most of your time at University.

Everyone says that the school days are the best days of your life, but for me I think University beats that by a mile. Being a student can be such a memorable time of your life because you’re studying something that you actually enjoy, and you’re working towards your degrees and getting one step closer to your dream career. However, some people can also say that they don’t get as much out of their student life as they would have liked to, so here are few ways that you can make sure to make the most of your student experience.

Travel and bring the studying to life

A great way to bring the words on the page to life, or to help you ,earn much more, especially about things like history or culture, is to travel and see some of these things for real. This could be something that is organised as part of your studying through your college or university, where student tours can easily be arranged. Or you may want to take it upon yourself to arrange holidays based around your learning. Combining your time for a break with some educational value.

Take steps to making friendships so you feel less isolated

A big thing about studying or going to university or college is the feeling of isolation. So many students go and move out of their parental homes and into student house shares or dorms, and when you are not knowing anybody, this can feel overwhelming. Try and not isolate yourself too much as so many say that the friendships make in college and university are the ones that last. My friends that I have made at University are definitely some of the most amazing people I’ve ever met, they’ve made my experience there amazing and supported me through tough and stressful times. Forever grateful. I always said I didn’t want to make friends when I joined (I used to be very anti social haha) but I’m so so glad I did. I wouldn’t have made it without them!

Join in with clubs and activities

Another way of making friendships is to join in with clubs and activities organised by the college or university. It could be intellectually based or something sporty, and it is a great way to make friends while also keeping yourself busy in the process. Sometimes there can be a lot of downtime when studying. So joining clubs can help fill the gap and enable you to socialise in a different way.

Take care of yourself

The next thing to think about would be how you feel in yourself, and it is always going to be a good idea to take better care of yourself. This means eating the right things, drinking plenty of water and taking regular exercise. Sure there will be times when you want all of the junk food and enjoy a few late nights here and there’s, but generally if you can keep a healthier lifestyle you will feel better for it.

Be aware of budgets and how much you spend

Finally, be aware of budgets and how much you are spending on things. It can be so easy to go overboard with student loans, but try and plan and budget a little more carefully so you don’t leave yourself short.

Let’s hope that these tips help to improve your student experience.

Remember to work hard and have fun!!
