10 STEPS TO ACHIEVING YOUR GOALS

1. There are 24 hours in each day – use them wisely.

Have you ever heard the quote “you have as many hours in the day as Beyoncé?” Well it’s true, you have as many hours in the day as the next person. Sure, we all have our responsibilities, we’re growing up we have our own families, our own homes, jobs and studies to think about. If you’re truly passionate about something you’ll make the time. Nobody is ever too busy, it’s all about prioritising and making the correct choices.

Personally, once my baby goes to bed I will spend an hour or two drafting blog posts and editing content before going to bed. It’s tiring for sure, sometimes all I want to do is shut my eyes and fall asleep but if it’s something you really want to work for, then you will.

2. Make sure you do one thing each day that brings you one small step closer to your end goal.

This relates to the above point – making time for your goals! If you want to get amazing grades, ensure you read around your subject everyday or do some research for assignments. Even ten minutes a day could help! If you’re wanting to get fitter, a walk round the block each day will help. Again, it’s all about making time. Remember that hope is not a strategy – stop procrastinating and let’s kick some ass.

3. Fake it til you make it

Play the role of what your heart desires – dress for the job you want, not the job you have.

4. Work hard, Play hard

Everyone needs to catch a break! Make sure you don’t burn yourself out by working too hard. Balance your time and make space for rest and fun. Be reckless, be fun and be happy! Then you’ll come back ready to go harder.

5. Stay motivated

Remember what you’re striving for – create motivational boards on Pinterest and make mini lists of small goals that will keep you on track to achieving the big goals.

6. Take control

You can’t control your circumstances so don’t let them control you! This is your life don’t let anybody else make any decisions for you.

7. Persistence is key

Don’t stop never give up, never stop trying ’til you reach the top.

8. Create an action plan and stick to it

A clear plan of your short time and long time goals is enough to motivate anyone! What do you want to achieve by this time next week? Next month? Next year? Jot it all down as a reminder and motivator.

9. Learn not to compare your success to others

You can’t compare your chapter one to somebody else’s chapter 100. You’re you and nobody else can take that away from you or do it better, everyone is unique in their own way and therefore everyone thrive when their time is right. Compression is thief of joy.

10. Don’t beat yourself up!

Set backs are unfortunately a part of life and something that is bound to happen. Use failures to your advantage, if it’s not a blessing – it’s a lesson! Learn from your mistakes and keep moving.

    For the past 7/8 months I’ve been making an action plan for my whole week and I’ve been so much more productive than I’ve ever been! Action plans are definitely the way to go ☺
