And before this starts, we’re talking about skin here! Where else are you going to build up a glowing and beautiful look with all this new make up constantly showing up everywhere?
When it comes to having a flawless foundation application, it takes a bit of hard work to ensure its long lasting and smoothly blended. You’ve never looked better than when your skin is glowing underneath its mask, and your pores have a chance to breathe!
Your face is what presents you to the world, and it’s the first thing people see when they meet you. Because of that, you’re going to need to take some steps, usually from the inside out, to make sure you’re as confident without makeup as when you’ve got it on, especially now summer is approaching!
With that in mind, here’s a couple of tips to add to your routine.
Take Time for Heavy Treatments
Using facemasks every week is so important! If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you’ll know that I can’t live without face masks! I use the Lush Mask of Magnimity every other day to prevent breakouts and I use the Garnier Moisture Bomb sheet mask once a week to lock in hydration! A great skin care routine helps a lot with your make up application! They help to get rid of any dead skin, help to bring out the surface spots for you to better target, and just feel good in general!
If you have time, getting professional treatments from the spa is a great treat that will make your skin look the best it’s ever felt! (And an excuse to use the hot tub…) Something like hydra dermabrasion wouldn’t go amiss here!
Make time for plenty of Vitamin C
When it comes to your diet, one filled with colourful foods and plenty of greens isfabulous for the health of your skin and overall well-being! However, there’s one nutrient out there that beats the rest: Vitamin C! If you’re actively practicing healthy eating, it’s going to show off in how your skin shines in the photos and lights up your face whenever you smile. This doesn’t mean you need to dash out to the supermarket and buy a trolley full of oranges, but you can try to introduce more of these enriched foods to make sure your skin is staying as smooth as possible.
Collagen is double produced at the very least when you’ve got plenty of vitamin c flowing, meaning less wrinkles and less harmful effects from outside conditions. Give yourself some good protection from the inside out!
Use The Correct Brushes and Primer
For a flawless finish, it’s important to use the correct tools. Different foundations work best with different tools so you may need to experiment a little to find the perfect one. There’s sponges and a lot of different shapes and textured brushes to choose from! My personal favourites are the Make Up Geek Stippling Brush (SHOP), the Oval Brush from New Look which I featured in this post (SHOP) and ofcourse the coveted Beauty Blender (SHOP)
It’s also important to use a primer that improves the look of your foundation!
Always Wear Sunscreen
The sun is always going to be doing things to your skin, whether it’s helping it produce the Vitamin D your body needs, or damaging it through overexposure to its rays. So always put some sunscreen on as part of your daily routine in the morning before you got out to make sure your skin stays supple throughout the day.
Something with an SPF factor of about 15 is good for mild days, and something that has a 20 factor to it is great for the sunnier times. If you’re trying your hardest to get a tan, still use the sunblock, just go for a lower level of protection to make sure your tanning efforts don’t work against you, and always remember you can try again tomorrow!
