If you haven’t heard already from the multitude of posts on my instagram story and on my feed – i’ve just turned twenty one! In this post I’ll be sharing the details of my outfit with you and also giving you my thoughts about reaching this milestone.
The best part about celebrating a birthday to me is spending time with your friends and family. I couldn’t care less about the presents – for me its about the quality time spent. That being said, I’ve never been a huge fan of birthdays. To me it is just a reminder of how fast time is passing which leads me to think about all the things I haven’t achieved yet. It hit me this year that I’m actually a fully grown, fully functioning adult. I have responsibilities, goals and plans for the future which nobody is going to achieve for me. I realised, it’s time for me to step my game up and work harder. I’ve spent too much of my life letting the time pass me by, always thinking that I have bags of time left to achieve what I want to achieve, always believing that things will sort themselves out.
The truth is, the only person that can control the things that happen in your life is you – nobody else can do it for you. Bad things may happen that are out of our control, but what we are able to control is the way we handle it – we can let it break us or we can use it to get stronger and more determined.
Every laugh shared, every drink sipped and every picture taken just has a special sort of monumental feel to it! Being twenty one isn’t like any other birthday. This marks the beginning, a change and a new order – it’s like all my New Years at once.
This is the real deal and I’m going to make this year count.
I feel like I’m finally making the switch from a teenager to a confident adult.
2018 has already been amazing and I accomplished the biggest goal in my life that I’d had since before I can even remember – which was to become a Mother. Nothing in my life will ever compare to that moment and I’m so glad that I have a little tiny person that can motivate me every single day to be the best person I can be for him, and for me too.
Life is all about finding what motivates you and what makes you happy. You could be in a job that pays hundreds of thousands a year but if it doesn’t make you happy then what’s the point? Why live miserably? The same applies with friendship groups, I’d sooner have one good and valuable friend that has my best interests at heart and who I can laugh with, than twenty friends that I’m not really that close with.
One theme applies this year which is quality over quantity because this can be applied to just about every single aspect of life no matter of the stage you’re at or what you’re doing right now.
Your twenties are a strange time in life where everyone is at such different stages and life changes dramatically over such a short period of time. There are some people who are still stuck in childhood, some of your friends may own their own homes or have their own families. Some people are all about the party and some are just simply lost and trying to find their place in the world. The truth is that no matter where you are – it’s okay. Your twenties are a time where you can figure all of this out. You’re still young enough where there’s time for a complete revamp of your life if you’re not happy. It’s a time where we will grow up but we will still keep in touch with our youth. Afterall, twenty one is stereotypically the age of partying and gambling, expecially in the USA.
