Welcome back to my blog. Sorry for the absence but as you can now probably tell I’ve been a little bit busy!
Last week, I gave birth to a gorgeous baby boy named Leo Christopher, on the 9th January 2018 at 16:37pm.
He is 24 inches of pure perfection and I am so in love! It was without a doubt the hardest thing I have ever done and I’m overwhelmed with just about every emotion possible but he is worth every single second of it all because he is the most amazing little bundle of perfection I have ever seen.
All I’ve ever wanted for as long as I can remember is to be somebody’s parent. This is the greatest achievement in my life and it always will be. I’m so lucky to be able to call myself this little boys mummy and it’s something I’ll never ever take for granted.
Making his appearance
I had on and off contractions for about a week, it kept me up in the night because I always thought it was going somewhere but never did! After about six sweeps I was desperate for him to make a move! I tried drinking a whole lot of raspberry leaf tea everyday, bouncing on a gym ball and eating lots and lots of pineapple! Finally, on January 8th – I was getting regular contractions. I went into hospital at 10pm and was examined but was only 3cm dilated, so after another sweep I was sent home.
The sweep must have worked this time though because as soon as I was back in the car the contractions got way more intense! I had a hot bath and finished a uni essay (leaving everything to the last minute at 39 weeks pregnant maybe wasn’t such a good idea). By 3 am, they were regular and painful and so I called my boyfriend and he came straight over and stayed up with me and my Mam until around 7 am when we went back to the hospital.
I was given gas and air and allowed to stay as I was now 4cm. The day seemed to go surprisingly fast! Gas and air worked for a while but it was making me sick so at around 12 I opted for the epidural. It was awful to get in and took so many attempts and then didn’t really take much pain away!
It was finally time to start pushing as I felt an intense pressure and my beautiful boy was born after 40 minutes of pushing at 16.37.
After a few nights spent in the NICU, we’re now home safe and sound recovering well and getting to know each other. It felt like a lifetime in the NICI so being home is the best thing ever and being his mummy is my most favourite thing in the world.
I waited my whole life for you, and you’re so much more than anything I could have ever imagined.
Thank you so much for your continued support. Back soon.
All our love x
