The party season is in full swing and it’s finally the biggest night of the year to let your hair down and forget about the year that’s passed – and celebrate entering a brand new one. It’s a time for fresh starts and new beginnings as we wonder what 2018 will bring to our lives.
It’s time to get cracking on those resolutions but let’s not forget the lessons that 2017 has taught us, after all, everything happens for a reason.
Here’s 17 things that I’ve learned this year.
1.FREINDSHIP: KEEPING YOUR CIRCLE SMALL
Not everyone will have your best interests at heart and there’s a lot of people who will only want to be in your life for the good parts. Friendship should be about being there for it all and if they’re not respecting you then let them go.
2. WORK HARD, PLAY HARD.
Think Tortoise and the Hare
3. YOU CANT PLEASE EVERYONE
Comparision is the theif of joy – comparing yourself to models on social media is only going to end in you feeling like shit. Don’t think that if you buy that designer bag then suddenly everyone is going to adore you. Please yourself before anyone else.
4. YOUR BODY IS YOUR TEMPLE: TREAT IT THAT WAY
It’s very easy to get caught up in your body image and your busy routine that you stop caring for your body. If she stops working then so do you.
5. RESPECT TIME: YOURS, FRIENDS, FAMILY
Unfortunatley nothing lasts forever and life is so tragically short that we must cling on to every second of time that life gives us. Time is a gift. Cherrish time with loved ones and make time for you. Don’t put things off until tomorrow. What if tomorrow never comes?
6. NEVER SETTLE FOR SECOND BEST
Listen, if the man you’re treating like a king isn’t treating you like a queen, dethrone him.
7. USE EVERYTHING TO YOUR ADVANTAGE
Even the hardest, toughest day of your life. If it’s not a blessing, it’s a lesson.
8. ACCEPT HELP
I value my independance as something I am extremely proud of, but everyone has a limit and sometimes it’s okay to admit that you’re struggling and that maybe you can’t manage it all by yourself.
9. FAMILY ARE EVERYTHING
Always make sure you make time to appreciate them. One of my new years resolutions is for sure to spend more time with my grandparents.
10. LOVE WITH ALL OF YOUR HEART
I’ve had my fair share of broken hearted momments this year and it could have made me cold hearted and cruel but instead you have to just find someone new to give that love to. Don’t let it go to waste!
11. THE ONLY PERSON YOU SHOULD COMPETE WITH IS THE YOU FROM 365 DAYS AGO
We should always strive to be better, do better, feel better.
Stay loyal to those who are loyal to you and never trust somebody before they give you a good enough reason to.
13. PERFECTION IS SUBJECTIVE.
Relating back to the social media game – people only show you their best self so don’t compare someone’s seemingly happy, yet heavily edited life to yours.
14. SITTING IT OUT: LEARNING TO SAY NO
Select your scedule and stick to it. If you’re too tired, say no. If it wont help you grow, say no. It really is that simple.
15. BE PREPARED FOR ANYTHING
Life is unpredictable and while this may sometimes be a beautiful thing, sometimes it knocks the wind out of our wings and stops us flying for a brief moment. Take a breath, then take back off.
16. BE YOU FOR YOU, NOT FOR THE BENEFIT OF OTHERS.
It’s your life, learn to take control.
17. WE’RE HERE FOR A GOOD TIME NOT A LONG TIME
Do more of what makes you happy!
I just want to say a huge, massive thank you for all the love this year. I hope you all have an amazing New Years! Here’s to 2018 and all the good times it will bring.
I have so many exciting things planned for 2018 I cannot wait to share with you!
All my love.
